Abuja businessman divorces wife over lack of love after 24 years

The Kubwa Upper Area Court in Abuja has granted the dissolution of a 24-year marriage between businessman Yakubu Yahaya and his wife, Amina Yusuf, citing a lack of affection.

Presiding Judge Mohammed Wakili dissolved the marriage in accordance with Islamic law, following Mr. Yahaya’s request for divorce.

As per the court’s decision, Ms. Yusuf is to observe a three-month waiting period, known as ‘Iddah,’ before remarrying. Mr. Yahaya explained to the court that they were married under Islamic law on October 1, 2000, and have four children. He cited changes in Ms.

Yusuf’s behavior and alleged threats to his life as reasons for seeking divorce.

Yahaya said he could no longer live with the respondent’s character, adding that there was no more love between them.

“I have pronounced divorce to her and urge the honourable court to confirm my divorce to her and dissolve the marriage,” he prayed the court.
