Victory of Aiyedatiwa at the polls reflects Ondo voters’ aspirations – APC Leader

A prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and spokesperson for the APC Campaign Council during the recent gubernatorial election, Hon. Bar Banji Okunomo, has hailed the triumph of the APC’s candidate and current governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as a testament to the electorate’s wishes.

During a media discussion on Monday, Okunomo characterized Aiyedatiwa’s win as historic, noting that it marks the first instance where a gubernatorial candidate has secured victory across all 18 local government areas in the state.

He stated, “Governor Aiyedatiwa’s win was extraordinary. Not only did he prevail in all 18 local government areas, but he also achieved victories in nearly all 203 wards across Ondo State, culminating in an impressive 99 percent success rate. The citizens of Ondo State have made their voices heard through their votes, and the divine endorsement of the governor has materialized.”

Okunomo praised the electorate in Ondo for their overwhelming support for Governor Aiyedatiwa at the polls, saying, “The people of Ondo State have showcased their resilience, bravery, and unwavering loyalty to the APC candidate, and they deserve commendation for their display of affection and backing.”

He noted that even prior to the elections and throughout the campaign period, the populace had expressed their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy. “We applaud them for affirming their affection for the governor by turning out in large numbers to cast their votes for him in Saturday’s election,” he added.

Okunomo pointed out that the citizens’ endorsement of Governor Aiyedatiwa stemmed from his pro-people initiatives over the last ten and a half months, emphasizing that the governor’s track record speaks for itself.

He remarked, “Indeed, the governor’s remarkable achievements across various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, human capital development, and infrastructure provision, were key factors that the electorate considered when choosing to support the APC candidate.”

He contended that the election served as a platform to demonstrate the popularity and political clout of the APC candidate and affirmed that, “As a party, the APC in Ondo State will persist in implementing projects that will enhance the well-being of the people.”

Okunomo expressed confidence that the governor would continue to extend his warmth to all citizens, regardless of political affiliations, stating, “We are assured that the governor will welcome everyone for the advancement of Ondo State.”

“The governor will honor the trust placed in him by the people of Ondo State. He will keep his commitments to execute programs and policies that will bring joy to the citizens,” he stated.

He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for fulfilling their responsibilities effectively, despite the antics of the leading opposition party during Saturday’s election, describing it as “one of the most peaceful, free, and fair gubernatorial elections in Ondo State’s history.”

Okunomo criticized the first runner-up in the recent election for their lack of political tolerance, remarking, “In a more civilized environment, the runner-up would have reached out to congratulate the winner. Nonetheless, we celebrate the people of Ondo State for making the right choice at this crucial time.”
