Ondo Govt Gives ₦34 Million To 46 Sick Persons

Ondo State Government has given cheques of ₦34 million to 46 sick persons selected from the political wards of the state.

According to the state’s Commissioner for Health, Banji Ajaka, the monetary donation was part of Governor Lucky Aiyedetiwa Medical Assisted Programme for the residents who cannot finance medical needs.

Presenting cheques to beneficiaries in Akure, Banji Ajaka, noted that many people are affected by many ailments which they have limited resources to treat.

Ajaka explained that the Ministry sought approval for over ₦200m but budgetary limitations saw 46 persons getting N34m.

He called on the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously. He added that the financial aid was possible because of the compassion of the Governor.

The Commissioner for Health advised Ondo people to key into the state’s health insurance programme.

Ajaka said, “We are distributing these cheques to people with various ailments and sickness. They are unable to take care of their medical bills. Medical assisted programme sought approval for ₦230m for various people across the state.

“But the budgetary approval is limited. We looked at their level of indices and 46 persons benefited ₦34m. We appreciate Mr. Governor for the approval. He was compassionate. We implored them to use the money judiciously. We are advising everybody to key into the health insurance.

“In years to come we will know the importance of health insurance scheme.“
