…Commends Ondo Governorship Debate
…Lauds Agboola Ajayi’s Performance

A leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, has commended the organizers of the Ondo Governorship Debate held yesterday, stating that it is a move towards the advancement of democracy in Nigeria.
Speaking in a chat with Starnews NG on Monday, Olafeso maintained that the debate gave citizens of Ondo State the opportunity to listen to the candidates and note their plans for the state.
While commending the two leading candidates for presenting themselves for the debate, the PDP chieftain categorically gave kudos to the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi, asserting that he demonstrated knowledge of the challenges facing the people of Ondo State.
“I commend the two candidates for presenting themselves to be scrutinized for the coming election in Ondo State. Beyond that, I’m so proud of my candidate, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, for his wonderful performance and for his demonstration of knowledge of the challenges facing the Ondo State people,” Olafeso said.
“It is so reassuring that the blackmail of intrigues about his inability to express himself came to nought. Regarding the campaign, he (Agboola) dictated the pace; he has more to say about what is happening in Ondo State. He has more solutions to proffer to the people, so it was a winning night for the Peoples Democratic Party,” he added.
Reacting to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s assertion of peace and maximum security in the state, the PDP chieftain disagreed vehemently, stating that the security situation has become so worrisome in recent times.
In his words, “Agboola Ajayi’s position on security is the real situation in the state because people are no longer safe. I was a farmer until about a few years ago when I could no longer go to my farm because herdsmen destroyed my farm completely. Insecurity is chasing people away from doing their daily routine of securing means of livelihood. It is so unfortunate that a king of a town was killed and there has been nobody brought to book till this moment.”
Backing his candidate’s pledge of reintroducing free education at both primary and secondary schools in the state, Olafeso stated that a lot of money needs to be invested in education in order to build the future of the coming generation.
He alleged that Gov. Aiyedatiwa lied on oath by claiming that he hired two thousand teachers at both primary and secondary education levels all over the state.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa lied on oath concerning the 2,000 teachers he said he hired. Where are they now? Have they started working? Where are the classrooms he renovated? He couldn’t mention just one. He lied on oath, and that is not how to be a good leader,” the PDP leader asserted.
Giving his submission on the new minimum wage promised by the candidate of the PDP, Olafeso noted that beyond paying the ₦76,000, Agboola Ajayi would also provide free education at both primary and secondary levels of education. He added that Ajayi’s plan will positively impact families.
Olafeso, who commented on the alleged discrepancy in Ajayi’s birth certificate, said that Aiyedatiwa should focus on addressing his own rather than that of his opponent. He continued by saying that Ajayi gave a true account of his academic journey and has spent a lot of time acquiring experience in governance, proving his capability in that aspect.
“If Aiyedatiwa claims that there are no people in the PDP, he should wait until November 16. This election is not about APC and PDP; it is Nigerians against the APC,” Olafeso concluded.
