…Asserts Ajayi will Win, Deliver

The alleged appointment of Adetunji Adeleye, Commandant of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, as Chairman of the Election Security Committee, supposedly instituted by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has sparked sharp opposition, particularly from the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Starnews NG has learned from reliable sources that a 20-member security committee was recently inaugurated by the state governor to supervise the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
Reacting to this alleged development in a chat with Starnews NG on Tuesday, Dr Eddy Olafeso, a prominent PDP figure and Chairman of the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Council, condemned the reported appointment, branding it as unwarranted and problematic.
Expressing his indignation, Olafeso argued that Amotekun, being a regional security outfit, holds no federal mandate and should thus play no role in the election process.
“We have it on reliable authority that the APC government in Ondo State intends to use Amotekun to intimidate opposition parties,” Olafeso asserted.
“Let it be on record that the PDP will not condone a situation where a security unit meant to protect the people of Ondo State is weaponised by the APC to engage in election malpractices. This election is a federal exercise, and Amotekun has no part in it.
“In the past, Amotekun has never been involved in election duties. Their mandate is to safeguard residents within their jurisdiction, not to interfere in political processes.
“The decision to appoint the Amotekun Commandant as the APC’s security chairman is highly unfortunate, if true. We will take every necessary step to prevent this,” he added.
Dr Olafeso, originally from Okitipupa, reiterated his call for the dismissal of Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Toyin Babalola, citing her alleged ties with the ruling APC.
“Toyin Babalola must go! I fully support her removal. Not only is she a native of Ondo State, but she also has a known affiliation with the APC in government. She should step aside to uphold INEC’s credibility for once by not partaking in this election,” Olafeso stated.
On the PDP’s chances in the forthcoming election, Olafeso expressed unwavering confidence, noting that the party is robustly organised and poised for victory.
“We’re certain that the people are yearning for change. They seek a leader with deep-rooted knowledge of Ondo State, who can connect with and understand their struggles. We see the plight of the people—deplorable infrastructure, non-existent roads, a food crisis, and subpar schools. What else? Agboola Ajayi has been in the arena for years, and testimonies of his leadership demonstrate that he genuinely cares for the common man. Agboola Ajayi will win this election because he has the ability and has proven himself before. I know he’ll deliver.”
The PDP leader urged Ondo residents to vote overwhelmingly for the party’s candidate, assuring them of good governance and effective representation under Ajayi’s leadership.
