The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has decided to appeal the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to award Nigeria three points and three goals following the cancellation of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
According to a Libyan outlet, Alwasat.ly, the LFF considers the ruling unfair.
The LFF has now hired a Tunisian lawyer, Ali Abbas, to defend its position in the matter.
The Match Day 4 fixture was scheduled to take place in Benina on 15 October but was cancelled after the Nigerian delegation’s flight was diverted.
Players and officials of the Super Eagles were subsequently held at an abandoned airport for at least 17 hours.
The LFF has also been ordered to pay a fine of $50,000, with payment due within 60 days of notification of the decision.
