Ahead of the Ondo State governorship election slated for 16 November 2024, a renowned philanthropist and aide to the Governor of Ondo State, Chief Bidemi Obayangban, has set up a team of five election canvassers across the Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency to support the campaign of his boss, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Starnews NG reports that the 16 November 2024 governorship election in Ondo State is being contested by five major candidates: Bamidele Akingboye (SDP), Gbenga Edema (NNPP), Agboola Ajayi (PDP), Sola Ebiseni (LP), and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obayangban, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Forestry (South), made this known in a telephone interview with Starnews NG on Wednesday.
When asked about his contribution to the governorship campaign of the ruling APC, Obayangban said, “I am a very reserved person. I do not need to publicise what I have contributed or am still contributing to support the party. The leaders of our party across the constituency can testify to that.
“You see, all politics is local. It may interest you to know that I have just organised election canvassers to begin a door-to-door campaign to mobilise support for my boss, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in the Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency.
“Besides my numerous contributions to the party, I took it upon myself to constitute a five-man committee in each community across the federal constituency as election canvassers.
“I appointed trusted friends and followers to the committee, and I am coordinating it myself. I am incurring all the expenses needed to conduct the door-to-door campaign to get the desired results.
“No governor can achieve anything within a year, not even a saint. This is why we all must support the governor for his continued stay in office beyond 2024 to finish the good work he has started,” Obayangban added.
