Ondo Guber Election: Makinde Rebukes Ganduje, Aiyedatiwa Over PDP Remarks

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has issued a sharp response to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, over his recent comments about the APC’s prospects in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.

Speaking on Wednesday, Governor Makinde dismissed Ganduje’s claim that the APC would “capture” Ondo State, calling it a “pipe dream” that would never materialize. He emphasized that the people of Ondo have grown disillusioned with the ruling party due to its poor performance on critical issues such as corruption, economic management, and insecurity.

Ganduje had previously declared that the APC would soon gain control of all South-West states, including Ondo, and claimed that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was “dead” in the state.

In a defiant rebuttal, Makinde expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious in the November 16 governorship election, predicting that the outcome would shock both APC leaders Ganduje and incumbent Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

“If wishes were horses, everyone would ride. The people of the South-West, especially Ondo State, have become wiser. You can already see the enthusiasm and support we are receiving, particularly in the Akoko area,” Makinde said.

He added, “On November 16, the people will send a clear message to Ganduje and the APC that Ondo State, and indeed the South-West, belongs to the PDP.”

Responding to Aiyedatiwa’s assertion that the PDP is no longer a force in Ondo, Makinde remarked, “Talk is cheap. They can say whatever they like, but on November 16, the people of Ondo State will speak loud and clear. Everyone in Nigeria will hear their voice.”

Makinde further stated that PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi would be declared the winner, as the election would reflect the will of the people. “Mark my words, on November 16, the PDP will prevail, and Agboola Ajayi will be Governor-elect. The sentiment is already palpable throughout the state,” he concluded.
