Prominent Nollywood actors, Kanayo O Kanayo, and Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, will be recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2024 Best of Nollywood event.
Both actors have been regarded as some of the best to have graced Nigerian TV screens for their various contributions to the growth of the movie industry.
The BON Awards are dedicated to honouring filmmakers who have shown exceptional talent and creativity over the years, which will also feature special recognition awards, according to information obtained from its website.
The Executive Producer, BON Awards, Feranmi Olaoye, in a statement on Friday, said the veterans are “people we grew up watching and they deserve to be celebrated.
“They inspired the generation we watch now, and they still maintained their stand in the industry. That’s why we have chosen them as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winners.”
Also, the Founder of BON Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, queried why actors shouldn’t be appreciated in their lifetime until after their death.
“Why must we wait till our film heroes are dead to give them awards? Posthumous awards are good, but it is better the recipient is alive to receive the awards,” he said.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held between November 23 to 24, 2024, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Some past winners of the awards include Pete Edochie, Jide Kosoko, Liz Benson, and Kareem Adepoju, (aka Baba Wande), among others.
