Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has dismissed rumors regarding his potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC,.
In a statement released by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, on Friday in Jos, the governor clarified that these claims are unfounded.
The rumors have been fueled by a flex banner featuring the governor, which has circulated widely, including a prominent display in Benin City, Edo State.
Governor Mutfwang attributed this campaign to the efforts of political adversaries and mischief-makers seeking to create discord between him and the PDP leadership.
He said, “While this baseless rumour does not warrant a formal response, it has become necessary to dispel any misconceptions that may mislead the public and tarnish my integrity. I remain a committed member of the PDP and firmly uphold the values of the party and trust placed on me by the people of Plateau State. The rumour that I’m contemplating leaving the PDP for the APC is entirely false. This fabricated story is the work of those who do not wish Plateau well. I wish to call on the public to dismiss the rumour and refrain from sharing the false information.’’
