MohBad’s Mother Seeks family settlement over son’s death

Abosede, the mother of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has called for a family settlement over issues surrounding her son’s death.

The late singer’s mother stated this in a video which captured the moment she was at the Lagos Coroner’s Court on Wednesday to attend the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death in 2023.

Abosede who spoke in Yoruba expressed her desire for a peaceful resolution, stating that the current actions of those involved are not bringing happiness to the family.

She emphasised the need for prayers and requested that the government should allow the family to settle the case internally.

The mother said: “I don’t want anybody to do anything and what his father says should be regarded as the final decision. I don’t want anybody to do anything. What I want is for them to go to church and mosque to pray for him (referring to Mohbad).

“This is because everything people are doing does not make sense. They did not make us (the family) happy. The mother and the father are not happy. We beg them (the government) in the name of God to let us be and allow our family to settle this case.”

Mohbad’s death has been shrouded in controversy, with various parties pointing fingers and making accusations.

The family’s plea for a settlement comes as a bid to put an end to the public drama and find closure.

In May, the management of the National Medical Services Laboratories in Pennsylvania, United States of America denied conducting any toxicology test on the corpse of the late singer.

This denial was in response to the earlier claim of the Lagos State Government which asserted that Mohbad’s body was flown to the medical facility in the US to determine the cause of his death.

NMS Labs, in response to inquiries made by The PUNCH, said it did not have a case for Mohbad.

The Client Services Associate, Forensics Division, NMS Labs, Esther Dede said that Mohbad’s toxicology test was not conducted at any of their laboratories, refuting the claims made by the Lagos State Government.

“Whatever Mohbad’s dad says is the final. We don’t want any elaborate celebration of our son’s remembrance. The best you can do is to pray for him. You all should please leave us alone and let us settle our family” – Mohbad’s mum says at the coroner today
