Gbogi rejects Aiyedatiwa’s appointment

Hon. Gbogi Emmanuel has turned down his recent appointment as Special Assistant in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration, citing lack of prior consultation and concerns over the true nature of the role.

In a letter addressed to Ondo State governor, Gbogi expressed gratitude for being considered but noted that the appointment came as a shock, as no one reached out to confirm his availability.

According to him, after the initial announcement of his appointment as Chairman of the Transition Committee for Akoko South South LCDA was rescinded, he returned to his business commitments in the United States, where he currently resides.

Gbogi also raised eyebrows over the fact that his name was the only one removed from the list of appointees across the state.

He said the situation left him feeling sidelined and undervalued by the administration and the party.

“That decision made it clear to me that my presence was no longer required in the affairs of the state,” he lamented in the letter.

More so, Gbogi alleged that the new appointment, disguised as a Special Assistant role, was nothing more than a political move to recruit ward canvassers ahead of the next governorship election.

He expressed concern that accepting such a position would be seen as a demotion, a role beneath his capacity, and one that could compromise his principles.

“I cannot in good conscience take up an offer that doesn’t align with my capabilities or values,” he remarked.

Despite his rejection, Gbogi Emmanuel wished the governor and the party success in their future endeavours.

His decision raises fresh questions about political appointments and the real motives behind certain government roles.
