Edo Guber: PDP campaign taunts Oshiomhole, Okpebholo over Federal roads

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Candidate, Senator Monday Okpehelo, and former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, have faced criticism for their alleged neglect of federal roads in the state.

At a campaign rally in Ekpoma, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, Director-General of the Asue Ighodalo Campaign, criticized the two APC senators.

He accused Oshiomhole of attempting to install a governor who would serve his personal interests, as PDP leaders voiced concerns over Oshiomhole’s actions.

Speaking in pidgin English about the condition of the roads, Iduoriyekemwen, a former Edo State House of Assembly member, expressed frustration.

He claimed that Senators Oshiomhole and Okpehelo showed little regard for the state of federal roads and failed to include road improvements as part of their constituency projects.

“Look at our federal roads in Edo. All the time I used to travel to Abuja it used to take me five to six hours to travel to Abuja from Benin, but now from Auchi to Benin can take you up to nine hours.

“Oshiomhole is a senator, Okpebholo is a senator instead of them to use their constituency projects to work on the roads they refused. Now they say that they want to buy our future.”

The rally also featured an address by Governor Godwin Obaseki, who urged voters to support Ighodalo to continue building on the achievements of his administration.

Obaseki highlighted that a 30-year development blueprint for the state had been established, emphasizing Ighodalo’s capability to maintain the development agenda.

The State PDP Chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi also rallied party supporters to remain committed and not miss the opportunity to elect a governor who would advance the party’s objectives.

In his speech, Ighodalo pledged to fully implement his manifesto, which he developed through consultations with stakeholders across various wards in the state.

He refuted allegations from political opponents who claimed he was using President Bola Tinubu’s name to intimidate voters and state agencies. Ighodalo asserted that Tinubu is a democrat who would not use state power to influence the election.
