Naira depreciates to N1,625 in parallel market

The Naira, on Friday, fell to N1,625 per dollar in the parallel market, down from N1,615 per dollar the previous day.

In the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), the Naira also depreciated to N1,598.56 per dollar from N1,593.93 per dollar on Thursday, reflecting a decrease of N4.62 per dollar.

Data from FMDQ indicated an increase in the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM. Additionally, the trading volume of dollars rose by 11 percent to $172.8 million, up from $155.52 million on Thursday.

As a result, the gap between the parallel market rate and the NAFEM rate expanded to N26.44 per dollar from N21.07 per dollar.
