Popular Oyo Traditional Ruler Dies

His Royal Highness, Oba Tiamiyu Labiyi Ladipo, the Alaba of Abanla in Oyo State and the father of Mogaji Fatai Oladipupo, a retired Assitant Inspector General of Police (AIG), has passed away.

Oba Ladipo, the oldest among the Baales that were elevated to the status of Oba by the Oyo State government, passed on at the age of 104 as announced by his family in a statement released on Tuesday.

The deceased while alive was known for his wisdom, kindness, and dedication to the development of his community.

“Inna Lillahi wa inna Lilehi rajiunna, Kabiyesi, ALABA of ABANLA, His Royal Highness, Oba Tiamiyu Labiyi LADIPO departed this world about one hour ago,” the statement said.

“He will be buried tomorrow, Wednesday, 7th August, 2024 by 10am.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah firdaus.”

Oba Ladipo will be remembered as a great leader and a champion of peace and development.

He is survived by AIG Mogaji Fatai Oladipupo, Dr. Olaide Majeed Oladipupo (Chief Medical Director, Lad Medical Hospital, Ibadan) and other successful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
