On Thursday in Port Harcourt, #EndBadGovernance protesters chose to sing the former national anthem, “Arise O Compatriots,” instead of the recently reintroduced “Nigeria We Hail Thee.”
The federal government had reinstated “Nigeria We Hail Thee” a few months ago, with President Bola Tinubu making it official on May 29, 2024.
Despite this, the protesters sang “Arise O Compatriots” as a statement of solidarity and a call for improved governance.
Nationwide, Nigerians also rallied on Thursday to protest worsening hunger and rising food prices.
