Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, have successfully rescued passengers who were kidnapped while traveling between Akunu in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo and Ayere in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State.
It would be recalled that Starnews NG had exclusively reported the abduction the passengers on Tuesday which involved six passengers.
Responding swiftly, officers from the Nigerian Army and Amotekun Corps pursued the abductors, scouring the forest and eventually rescuing the victims by 10 p.m. the same day.
Among the rescued were 74-year-old Madam Alicia Afolayan and 29-year-old driver Kabiru Yakubu. Afolayan and Yakubu recounted that during the attack, all passengers fled into the forest, but the kidnappers used white dogs to track them.
Yakubu further explained that the rescue was carried out by a combined team of Nigerian Army troops and Amotekun personnel.
