Except there is no more PDP, I won’t decamp for any reason – Sen Tofowomo

A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) and a former Senator of the 9th assembly in Ondo State, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, has debunked the rumour making the round that he is planning to leave the PDP.

In a short statement to Starnews NG Correspondent on WhatsApp on Wednesday, the former Ondo South Senator insisted that he remains in his party and has no plan of leaving the PDP for any reason except if the PDP ceases to exist.

“The PDP remains my party and I have no plan to leave except if the party does no longer exist,” the statement reads.

“The interview I granted was already done before Agboola Ajayi visited me, and I did that with good intention as a leader to register my displeasure for not carrying me along in the scheme of things so that he could adjust and get it right.

“The rumour of my defection is not true. I am loyal to the PDP and I have no plan to leave. The public and my supporters should ignore the fabricated lies”, he said.

A report earlier published by Starnews NG disclosed that Sen. Tofowomo, alleged that the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi, did not accord him and former Gov. Olusegun Mimiko any political relevance.

Tofowomo, who represented Ondo South Senatorial District at the Ninth Assembly from 2019 to 2023, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Okitipupa.

Tofowomo said in the interview that it was unfortunate that both himself and Mimiko, who was governor of the state between 2009 and 2017, were not given any specific role to play in the preparation for the forthcoming election.

“I can understand that neither the former governor nor my humble self was accorded any political relevance in the selection of members of the team,” he said.
