Mother Panics as 32-Year-Old Daughter Goes Missing in Kogi

A resident of Okenne, Kogi State, is in distress as her 32-year-old daughter, Hamidat Abdulrafiu, has gone missing.
Hamidat left home on June 18, 2024, to meet a customer in Lokoja but has not been heard from since.

Hamidat’s mother, Mrs. Ramot Yakubu, reported to City Round that her daughter’s phone has been unreachable since June 19. Despite tracking her movements to Abuja and reporting the situation to the police, there have been no signs of kidnapping or accidents, and all efforts to find her have so far been unsuccessful.

“Hamidat is a businesswoman who sells unisex clothes. She often travels to Lokoja to meet customers and collect payments for goods sold on credit,” Mrs. Yakubu explained.

Mrs. Yakubu said Hamidat called her upon arriving in Lokoja. However, on the morning of June 19, when she attempted to contact her daughter, there was no response, and Hamidat’s phone has been off ever since.

“I have another daughter studying at the Federal University in Lokoja. I called her to check if her sister was with her, but she said no,” Mrs. Yakubu added.

A friend who stayed at Hamidat’s place returned from Abuja on June 19. Neighbors reported that Hamidat left around 8:00 p.m. on June 18 after receiving a phone call. They observed that she did not eat the food she had ordered, and her bathing soap, body cream, and clothes were left untouched in her room.

When asked if there had been any ransom demands or threats, Mrs. Yakubu confirmed that there had been none.

John Stephen, a police officer from the Adavi Police Divisional Headquarters, confirmed the incident, stating, “According to her family, it is unusual for her to disappear for days without any contact.”
