No Explosion at Zungeru Hydropower Plant– Management

In response to recent reports of an explosion at the Zungeru Hydropower Plant, the management has issued a press statement vehemently denying the incident.

The false news, which was published in newspapers and widely circulated on social media, claimed there were casualties resulting from the supposed explosion.

The Management categorically stated that no such incident occurred, labeling the report as not only false but also highly irresponsible and insensitive, especially given the current security challenges in Nigeria.

“This report is not only false but also highly irresponsible and insensitive, given the pervasive nature of insecurity issues in Nigeria,” the statement read.

The false news has sparked unnecessary panic among investors, partners, staff, and their families, potentially undermining the trust and confidence that the management of the Zungeru Hydropower Plant has worked hard to build over the years. “The implications of such a misleading report are severe and far-reaching,” the statement added.

To reassure the public, the management emphasized that the Zungeru Hydropower Plant remains fully operational and continues to contribute significantly to the national power grid. The plant recently completed a 15-day test run, which notably boosted power supply across Nigeria.

The management of the Zungeru Hydropower Plant urges the public to disregard the false reports and assures all stakeholders of the plant’s safety and operational integrity.
