Essien Aniedi-Bassey, a 32-year-old student, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 10-year-old girl.
The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos delivered the verdict.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Aniedi-Bassey pleaded guilty to charges of attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecently touching the child’s breasts. Judge Abiola Soladoye handed down the 21-year sentence.
“The combined term of the 21 years imprisonment shall begin from March 23, 2018,” the judge stated.
