EFCC forms team to probe officers for assault

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has established a disciplinary team to investigate two officers accused of assault.

Dele Oyewale, head of media and publicity for the EFCC, announced this in a press release on Sunday.

The officers were seen in a viral video assaulting a female staff member at Regional Hotel, Ojo, during an early morning operation on Thursday.

In response, Olukoyede ordered the arrest of the officers and directed them to appear before a joint disciplinary team, which includes the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee and the Department of Ethics and Integrity.

The officers are scheduled to face the disciplinary team on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

The team will review the case and recommend appropriate actions against the officers.

The EFCC chairman emphasized that thorough measures will be taken to hold the officers accountable for their unprofessional conduct.
