The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday.
The visit, documented in a video obtained by sources also revealed the presence of former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who accompanied Atiku.
This visit follows closely on the heels of Atiku’s recent meetings with former military heads of state, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, in Minna, Niger State. Atiku announced these earlier visits on social media, stating, “Today, I paid Sallah homage to former Heads of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and Gen. Abdulsalami at their residences in Minna, Niger State.”
These engagements have fueled speculation about Atiku’s intentions to run in the 2027 presidential election. In May, Atiku had openly declared his commitment to continue pursuing the presidency as long as he remains in good health.
His declaration came amid discussions about forming a coalition with Labour Party candidate Peter Obi and other political entities.
