Teenager nabbed for stealing LED lights on Third Mainland Bridge

 

On Friday, officers from the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended an individual suspected of vandalism on the newly renovated Third Mainland Bridge. The suspect was found removing 10 LED road stud lights.

According to a statement on the Lagos State government’s official X handle, the 18-year-old suspect was caught in the act around 10:00 a.m.

It read, “Operatives of Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) around 10:00 a.m on Friday arrested a suspected vandal removing LED road stud light on the newly renovated Third Mainland Bridge.

The statement revealed that “The suspect, Mubarak Abdullahi (18), living in Makoko, had, at the time of his arrest, removed 10 of the LED road stud light screwed to the road to enhance the visibility of road users.

“The suspect was caught red-handed by the operatives on patrol of the bridge  around 10:00 a.m today.”

The RRS commander, Olayinka Egbeyemi, noted that bike riders had been deployed two weeks ago on a 24-hour security patrol to monitor traffic and infrastructure on the bridge.
