The Oyo State government has announced the recruitment of 7,000 teachers for primary schools.
It also announced the recruitment of 100 caregivers for special schools in the state.
Dr. Nureni Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), disclosed at a press conference in Ibadan that “preliminary work” on the recruitment process had begun.
He described the recruitment as integral to addressing the “vacancies in our primary schools and special education centres”.
“Applicants must be residents of the local government where they intend to work,” he said, adding that “those who falsely claim to belong to a different local government will not be considered”.
He said, “All necessary information regarding the recruitment process will be made public.
We urge applicants to come directly to the SUBEB office for accurate information. No one has been authorized to collect any money from applicants during this process.”
He said the recruitment exercise aims to improve the quality of education in the state, hence, it will be based on merit and the capability of individuals.
He added that individuals with disabilities will be adequately represented in this recruitment process while stressing the importance of computer literacy for candidates.
