In a dramatic turn of event on Wednesday, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) backtracked over the alleged suspension of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, the Lawmaker representing Ondo South Senatorial District.

Starnews NG had reported that the Ondo South Senator was suspended for anti party activities by some members of the ward executives at Igbotako ward 2, in Okitipupa Local Government of Ondo State.

Some members of the Executives of the Igbotako Ward II, in a letter after the end of their meeting, suspended the Senator for his actions and activities, which they said, violated the party’s Constitution.

They also cited that the suit instituted by Jimoh against the APC, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as well as his involvement in anti-party activities influenced their decision to suspend him from the party.

Dramatically, the party made a u-turn in another letter with a video released by them and circulated  on social media where they passed a vote of confidence and pledged their loyalty affirming the leadership of Senator Jimoh.

In the latest development, they declared total support for all  the actions of the senator towards his move to invalidate the lgovernorship primary election conducted by the party on April 20, 2024, and the emergence of Governor Aiyedatiwa as candidate of the ruling APC ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election in the state.

In an emergency meeting, the party executives and members critically assessed the governorship primary election, denouncing it as fraudulent and unacceptable.

They emphasized that no election occurred on April 20, 2024. Additionally, they voiced astonishment at the figures attributed to contestants in the election by the Governor Usman Ododo-led Committee.

The statement issued at the end of the meeting reads in parts: “At the general meeting of Igbotako Ward 2 held today, Thursday 9th May, 2024 at 4pm, we reviewed the fraudulent election of Saturday 20th April, 2024 and resolved as follows:

“That no election took place at Igbotako Ward 2 and indeed all the other wards in Okitipupa Local Government Area;

“That we are surprised to see votes allotted to contestants by the Ododo-led Committee;

“We hereby pass a vote of absolute ‘Confidence’ on our leader Senator Jimoh Ibrahim PhD, CFR.”
