JUST IN: Violence rocks Okitipupa ward, voters flee

Violence erupted on Saturday at Ward 1, Stella Maris College, Okitipupa, as rival supporters of two aspirants of the All Progressives Congress clashed over the party’s candidate selection for the upcoming November 16 Ondo State governorship election.

Despite a significant turnout of accredited party members eager to participate in the election process, the situation quickly deteriorated into chaos as supporters from opposing factions engaged in clashes.

The violence erupted even before the accreditation and election procedures could commence, prompting panicked voters to flee in search of safety.

According to an anonymous accredited voter, the turmoil ensued when an agent of one of the aspirants seized validation and accreditation papers before making a swift getaway from the scene.

“One of the agents came here, snatched the validation and accreditation papers and ran away with his car. He was chased but could not be apprehended. This is what caused the violence,” he said.

The security agents at the ward were unable to contain the violence and everyone fled the scene.  IN: Violence rocks Okitipupa ward, voters flee
