Leaders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ondo State have raised the alarm over alleged plot by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to manipulate the party primary scheduled for April 20th.
The Ondo APC leaders, under the auspices of Ondo Vanguards for Good Governance, alleged Governor Aiyedatiwa have begun production of fake membership register and cards of the party ahead of the primary.
They said fake membership slips of the APC have been printed for onward distribution to persons who are not members of the party.
Coordinator of the group, Evangelist Tade Ojo, who spoke in Akure, stated that the resolve by Aiyedatiwa’s supporters to either rig the primary election or discredit it, was because they were faced with imminent defeat.
Ojo stated that the leaders decided to expose what he termed disruptive acts because it was foolhardy to believe that the fake documents being produced by could be impressed successfully on the national committee saddled with the responsibility of conducting the primary election.
According to him: “We use this opportunity to call on the national leadership of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to allow Aiyedatiwa and his collaborating D?desperados disrupt the APC primary Ondo state.
“We also call on the leaders of our great party to prevail on the governor and the gang of his red beret not to hurt the chances of the APC in the forthcoming primary election of the party, and the general election in November, as well as the desire of the good people of Ondo State for a new lease of life, through purposeful leadership and good governance.
“Ondo State is larger than all of us, including governor Ayedatiwa. We are convinced that they are prepared to spill the milk, if they cannot have it.”
But spokesman for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS) Kayode Fasua, said the allegations were from faceless people sponsored by ‘jittery aspirants ‘.
“The primary election is an internal affair of the APC and the party leadership is independent of government. Before the party, all aspirants, including the governor, are equal in treatment; regarding campaigns and the internal electoral process.
“Therefore, Governor Aiyedatiwa or his supporters are far removed from this lie of printing fake membership cards, as alleged by jittery aspirants hiding behind fingers.
“Again, the allegation of the governor unleashing terror or destroying billboards is trite and unappealing to the public, because the Police have never for once heard of such complaint, much less arrest anyone. They should go drink some water and sleep for their enviously frayed nerves. Hardworking Governor Aiyedatiwa has overtaken them.”
