The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to initiate the screening process for 16 aspirants competing for the party’s ticket in the forthcoming Ondo State governorship primary, scheduled for April 20.

Originally planned to commence on Thursday, the two-day screening was deferred due to the Federal Government’s extension of the Eid-el-Fitr holiday.

The screening will begin shortly following the establishment of two committees: the Ondo State Governorship Screening Committee, comprising seven members, and the Screening Appeal Committee, consisting of five members. Both committees were appointed by the National Working Committee of the APC at the national secretariat in Abuja.

Former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Senator Joshua Lidani, has been appointed as the chairman of the screening committee, while former Member of the House of Representatives, Bimbo Daramola, will serve as the Secretary. According to reports from PUNCH, other members of the screening committee include Pastor Jones Erue, High Chief Second Bakor, Magaret Duru, Prof. Chukwudi Ledirick, and Hon. Abdul Rahim Balogun.

The five-man Screening Appeal Committee will be chaired by Senator Oseni Yakubu, representing Kogi Central. Additional members of the appeal committee are Emmanuel Ekeh, Pious Idele, and Ibrahim Magaji Dosara.
