The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has proclaimed Thursday, April 11th, as a day devoid of filming activities across all Nollywood sets.
This decision comes in the wake of a tragic incident that claimed the lives of actor Junior Pope and three other crew members during the shooting of a film titled “The Other Side of Life” on the Anam River in Anambra State.
AGN’s National President, Emeka Rollas, conveyed the organization’s decision in a statement released on Thursday.
The accident occurred during a scene involving a boat, leading to the untimely demise of the talented actor and his colleagues.
“In light of the devastating boat mishap that resulted in the loss of Junior Pope and three other crew members at the River Niger Cable point in Asaba on April 10th, all filming activities in riverine areas and involving boat rides are hereby suspended indefinitely,” Rollas announced.
He continued, “On this day, April 11th, 2024, there will be no shooting permitted at any location nationwide. Additionally, production of the film ‘The Other Side of Life’ is halted until further notice.”
Furthermore, Rollas emphasized that no actor is to engage in any professional collaborations with Adamma Luke, the producer of the aforementioned film, until investigations are concluded and appropriate measures are taken.
“Let us remember Junior Pope and his fellow crew members in our prayers as we mourn their untimely passing,” Rollas concluded, extending condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
