Why Jesus said they know not what they did

In display of ignorance, the persecutors of Jesus Christ were very mean and desperate to have Him dead. In Luke 23: 34, Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Many will wonder on that faithful day why Jesus gave that statement of prayer. The answer is simple. It was because the glory of the Cross was hidden to those who were hell bent to kill Him. They seem not aware of the implications of killing Him and the glory that will follow thereafter.

Bible says : The Son of man goeth as it is written of him (Mathew 26:24). It was indeed written of Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life for the propitiation of the sins of the world (1John 2:2).

The greatest mistake they made was that they killed Jesus Christ and allow Him to fulfil His destiny.

His death on the cross completed His assignment for coming to the World in flesh and blood. No wonder why He said it is finished before He gave up the ghost (John 19:30).

The glory of the Cross are:

– His death on the cross gave Him victory over sin with salvation graciously given to every living soul in the world (John 3:16)

– His death and His resurrection gave Him power over life and death (John 11:25)

– His was given all power in Heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18)

– His name was glorified, exalted and lifted higher above any other name in Heaven and on earth forever (Philippians 9-10).

– He fulfilled His destiny as a born Saviour (Luke 2:11)

So, what’s your point serving a god who cannot save you? What’s your point serving a god whose name cannot scatter the pit of hell? Why are you serving a god who does not have power over Heaven and Earth? Why do you follow a god who has no power over life and death? Does your own god has Victory over sin?

Please repent today! Give your life to Jesus Christ and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour.

I just told you… It’s your choice to choose between a man who can control death and life.

Say : Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin. Forgive me. (confess your sin) I accept you today as my Lord and Saviour, come into my life and remain there forever. Amen.
