Court remands 40-year-old man for stabbing co-tenant with knife

A court in Ibadan, the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, has directed the remand of Kelvin Titan, aged 40, at Agodi correctional facility following allegations of attempted murder against his neighbor.

Mr. Titan is accused of attempted murder, as indicated by a single charge brought against him.

Magistrate A. T. Oyediji refrained from recording the defendant’s plea owing to jurisdictional constraints and instead instructed his remand until legal advice is provided by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Ms Oyediji, thereafter, adjourned the matter till April 15 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp Opeyemi Olagunju, had told the court that Mr Titan, on March 9, at about 4:30 a.m., allegedly attempted to cause the death of a 44-year-old woman, Bolanle Ogunleye.

Mr Olagunju said the defendant allegedly stabbed her all over the body with a knife and a pair of scissors.

He said the offence was committed at No. 12, Heritage Estate, Sharp Corner, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan.

Mr Olagunju said the offence contravened Section 320 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2004.
