Ade Adetimehin, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stressed the necessity for supporters of governorship aspirants to conduct themselves with civility in order to secure a resounding victory for the party in the upcoming November elections.
Adetimehin made this assertion on Monday during Chief Olusola Oke’s formal announcement of his intention to contest in the party’s April primary.
He called upon all aspirants within the party to ensure that there is no room for discord or hateful rhetoric that could potentially divide and undermine the party’s chances of success.
Adetimehin underscored the importance of conducting the election process as members of the same unified family, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders.
“It’s our joy to retain power in the state . You can be provoked but walk away and have a focus. We have no joy in failure. All of us must be on the same page. Sell yourself and your projects.
“Tell people who you are. No one is perfect. Concentrate on how to make this state progress.
“And I appeal to you to cooperate with other aspirants after the primary in case you lose the election,” he said.
The chairman commended Oke for his soundness, describing him as a great and good recognition per excellence.
According to him, Oke is a sound politician with a lot of things being expected from him.
Earlier, Oke said that the state needed a leader that could make things happen, saying that if he was nominated as the party’s candidate, the party would do just little campaign, since he was a grassroots politician.
He described all members of the party as brothers and sisters that must work for the victory of the party.
“All of us are brothers. We will not use abusive words or taint anybodys image.
“Those aspirants that are in habit of destroying billboards or causing strife must be checked and warned. Mr Chairman, I want you to be in charge, nobody can remove you.
“we are very proud of you as a chairman because you’re winning for our party tremendously and outstandingly. I have come to officially inform you of my intention to contest the 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
“All I have come to ask you is to organise a free and fair primary. Once that is done, I know I will emerge,”he said.
According to him, he he has acquired enough experiences because he has occupied various positions.
He assured the party’s chairman that welfare of the party would be paramount to him if picked as the party’s candidate and won the gubernatorial poll.
“I know every environment in the state. I’m part of suffering and denial and that is I will be part of solution to development of our state.
“We need a leader with focus. We can’t keep doing the same thing in the same way.This is my turn.
“I’m glad that it’s zoned to south. The supremacy of the party will be guaranteed under my leadership. I will respect the party. The party will be at the centre of focus.
I want to assure you that welfare of the party’s members will be guaranteed. There will be reward for the party’s members,” he stated.
Oke has contested three times as a gubernatorial candidate in different political parties.
