Is it wrong for a woman to wear trouser?

Is it wrong for a woman to wear trouser? The answer is Capital No.

Just like we have a female pant so also we have a male pant. This applies to a trouser as well. We have a woman’s trouser and we have a male trouser. Every country has their cultures before colonisation.

In the eastern part of Nigeria and in the South – South for example, their men are wearing wrapper clothes with a shirt and a cap to match. In other part of the same Nigeria, some other tribes believed that wrapper clothing are clothes pertaining to a woman just like we believed that trousers are men cloth in Nigeria; of which, other inhabitants of the earth in other countries did not see it as such.

This makes it difficult to invoke Deuteronomy 22: 5 against our women who are wearing trousers just like we cannot invoke the same verse of the Bible against men who are using wrapper clothes.

Deuteronomy 22: 5 says: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wearing women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.”

We must be careful in the application of the above Scriptures against our women who are wearing trouser as much as the type of trouser they wear belong to the women folk and not the male folk.

There is no where it was stated in the Bible that trouser is a cloth for the men. The clothing of the people in Biblical times according to Wikipedia, was made from wool, linen, animal skins, and perhaps silk. Most events in the Old and New Testament took place in ancient Israel, and thus most Biblical clothing are ancient Hebrew clothing. They use to wear underwear and cloth skirts.

What is the meaning of the word “trouser”? Wikipedia defines trouser as an item of clothing that might have originated in Central Asia, worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately rather than extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, or other dresses. It never defined trouser as a cloth belonging to the male folk. Though it is commonly being used by the men but since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by the women as well.

The point here is that a trouser was never defined as a cloth of a man or a woman. But was defined as a cloth worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately.

This means that the wearing of a trouser is not the standard for anyone to know who is in Christ or not in Christ as many erroneously believed.

That’s why the Bible do not want anybody to judge anyone because God’s ways are always far above ours and He did not see things the way many of us see things and are being emotional about them.

Let’s preach the gospel of Christ and stop the attack on the body of Christ and churches which allow their women to wear trouser. Or what’s wrong in them wearing trouser as much as it is not men’s trousers?

If you are a woman that like to wear trouser, it won’t take away your heaven as much as you do not wear that trouser belonging to a man. Since such trousers were produced for your gender (female), you have no problem. Don’t let anyone scare you.

You only need to bother about one thing, and that’s your salvation.

Are you truly born again? Have you separated from the world after confessing Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? Are your ways right with God? Are you still living in sin after confessing Jesus? Can you make Heaven if you die today?

These are the things that should bother you!

Say : Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin. Forgive me. (confess your sin) I accept you today as my Lord and Saviour, come into my life and remain there forever. Amen.
