Popular Ondo Disc Jockey, Abiodun Awodumila, has petitioned the police over threat to his life by some persons.
In a letter addressed to the Police Area Commander, Okitipupa Area Command, dated 27th February, 2023, and made available to Starnews NG, Awodumila accused some persons suspected to be cultists of assault and threat to his life with violence.
The letter reads in full:
“REPORT ON A CASE OF ASSAULT OCCASIONING HARM/THREATENING
LIFE WITH VIOLENCE AND DEMANDING MONEY WITH MENACE
“I, MR. ABIODUN AWODUNMILA, an Hypeman/Disk Jockey (DJ) of the above address hereby bring to your awareness the criminal and wicked attitude of the following guys (1) Tosin Toaster “Male” (2) Aboy Oboflo“M” and three others which I don’t know their names but if seen I can recognize them that claimed to be cultists.
“Since January 2024, they have been threatening me that they must collect commission (money) on any show I attended. But I didn’t yield to their demands.
“On Monday, 26th of February 2024, at about 8:30pm as I was passing through Halubi Street Okitipupa, I had an handshake with one of my friends, these disgruntle elements just accosted me and started beating me blue and black with 2 by 2 stick, plastic chairs and their fist blows all on me. They were slapping me profusely to be extent that all my body is full of bruises. In the process, they collected my Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) inside my cross bag. I was being accused of having a handshake with my friend as if I am a member of a confraternity.
“Sir, I therefore urge your intelligence to arrest these criminal minded people who feel they can infringe my rights.
“In this regard, I pray the case should be taken to the State CID Akure for discreet investigation.”
Meanwhile, the sister of the DJ, a popular socialite, and UK -based business woman, Madam Awodunmila Olamiposi popularly known as Yeye Oge, has vowed to take the case up and see that justice is served in the matter.
Yeye Oge who expressed anger in a telephone interview with Starnews NG on Tuesday, said, “this is nonsense and lawlessness of the highest order. Can’t imagine that a gang of cult group in my dear local government could beat my gentle brother blue and black in a broad daylight just because he declined to join their cult gang. Who does that?
“What is Nigeria turning into? They even threatened to stop his business if he fails to be paying them commission for every show he performed. This is ridiculous. I will see to their rest and conviction. They must go to jail, not only for the public assault, but also for practicing cultism openly without anyone challenging them”, she added.
