The Niger State Government has mandated all political office holders to declare their assets in a significant move towards transparency and accountability.
In a press release made available to newsmen and signed by Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaja Abubakar Usman, dated January 15, 2024, the state government stated that every political office holder in Niger State is required to declare their assets.
The letter reads, “In a significant move towards transparency and accountability, every political office holder in Niger State is required to declare their assets. This directive, issued by His Excellency Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed, is effective from January 15th, with a deadline set for January 30th. Failure to comply will result in consequences as outlined in the relevant section.
“Your cooperation in this matter is crucial for fostering trust and ensuring good governance.
“Let’s collectively contribute to a more accountable political landscape.
“For further details or assistance, please contact the appropriate authorities.
“Thank you for your attention to this important announcement.”
