Super Falcons of Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala, has paid tribute to Nigerian music sensation, Mohbad, who died in a mysterious circumstance in September 2023.
On Sunday, October 22, Asisat Oshoala ended her goal drought in style after failing to score in three successive games. She scored two goals in FC Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Granada in a Spanish La Liga women’s league game.

Oshoala, who played the entire 90 minutes of the game, got her first goal in the game in the 80th minute and scored her second goal in the 82nd minute.

While celebrating her first goal, the 29-year-old Nigerian striker raised her jersey to reveal a shirt that carried the picture of Mohbad on it.

Recall that Mohbad, who became famous for his “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” and “Feel Good” hit songs, died controversially at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023. His death has attracted a series of speculations that led to the police exhuming his body for more investigation into the cause of his untimely demise.

After Asisat Oshoala helped FC Barcelona’s women’s team to beat Granada 6-1 on Saturday, she took to her Instagram page to share a picture of when she was paying tribute to Mohbad with her goal celebration.

In the caption of the picture, the record five-time African woman player of the year wrote: “Double for Imole ⚽️⚽️ …..keep resting young king ????????❤️ #LightBoy”.

Oshoala’s two goals against Grenade means that she has scored three goals in five appearances for FC Barcelona so far this season.

The Barca women, who are the current champions of the league, have now recorded six wins in six games, and are topping the league table with 18 points, three points ahead of Real Madrid.
