The Lagos State Police Command is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic demise of Lawal, a driver employed by the Car Dealer company, Cedric Masters Limited.
Lawal’s unfortunate demise occurred on August 18, 2023, allegedly at the hands of suspected soldiers.
These individuals purportedly seized his vehicle and left his lifeless body on the roadside.
Reportedly, Lawal was en route from Lagos to Abuja to deliver a new 2022 Toyota Corolla when he encountered soldiers at a military checkpoint near Ojodu Berger. These soldiers apprehended him under unclear circumstances, claiming they were transporting him to their barracks for further inquiry.
Regrettably, they supposedly took him to an abandoned location in Iyana Ipaja, where he was allegedly killed and his body discarded in the woods.
An eyewitness aided in identifying the three alleged soldiers involved in this event. While the state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hyundeyn, has yet to confirm the incident, a reliable source from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, verified its occurrence.
The source, requesting anonymity, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has directed a thorough investigation into the matter, with an emphasis on bringing the perpetrators to justice.
