How Bandits Ambush, Kill Many Soldiers in Niger State 

 

Bandits have again hit the Niger state community during which no fewer than thirteen Military personnel were killed and some local vigilantes were also injured.

However, the gallant soldiers also ended up gunning down no fewer than fifty of the bandits during the fireworks.

Vanguard report that, The bandits were said to have been terrorising Kundu village near Zungeru in the Wushishi local government area of the state for the past few days.

According to Vanguard reports, the bandits moved into the region with cows and other domestic animals that they stole from local residents both inside and outside of the towns.

According to reliable information from Vanguard, the bandits also claimed the lives of some top military commanders.

The horrific killing of the gathered military personnel took place on Sunday.

According to Vanguard report, 13 of the casualties happened on Sunday, while the bandits killed eight more people yesterday.

The military personnel who were in the region on a rescue mission had been ambushed by the bandits, it was reliably reported.

Security received a distress call about a bandit invasion in the area as they tried to flee with the cows to other adjacent states.

The bandits, who had been warned in advance, set up an ambush and opened fire on the security personnel as they quickly blocked the criminals’ escape path at Kundu.

The bandits’ firework also caused injuries of varying degrees to no less than five local vigilante members. The remains of the military men had been put to the Zungeru Federal Medical Centre, according to a local eyewitness who confirmed the occurrence to Vanguard Correspondent.

“The occurrence is awful and tragic. While the injured vigilante group is also temporarily receiving medical care in the same hospital, we have been able to count at least 21 military personnel dead that have been placed at the Zungeru hospital.

The insider continued, “One of the vigilantes who was recovering, Sani Adamu, told us that they had a face-to-face fire exchange with the robbers but that they overcame us due to their sophisticated guns.

Many of the robbers were also shot, and their bodies are still all over the battleground, he proclaimed.

Both the military and Police could not be reached in Minna to comment on the incident.
