Bandits Storm Plateau Settlement, Open Fire On Villagers

According to Nigerian Tribune ,during the wee hours of Monday morning,7th August 2023,a group of armed Unidentified assailants invaded Mangu local government area LGA of Plateau state and murdered no less than five villagers in cold blood while several other suffered serious wounds and are currently in critical condition.

 

Following the information obtained by news reporters,it was mentioned that the above-mentioned local government area LGA has been highly dominated by bandits who have slaughtered no less than 300 persons in recent times,most especially women and children.

 

However,the tragic occurrence was highly Condemned by the General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division ,who is also the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH),which eventually prompted him to move his operating base and men to the trouble region in order to give the innocent civilians a fighting chance as well as rekindling their lost hopes.

 

When contacted for comments on the tragedies,a reliable source with close connections with the affected council narrated that,the bloodthirsty gunmen who came in large numbers stormed Nchya Village in the Mangu District of the Mangu Local Government Area LGA at around 1:00 a.m when most persons were already fast asleep,opened gunshots intermittently into the air to signal the villagers of their presence and cause commotion in the local settlement.

 

Quite unfortunately,it was disclosed that five villagers paid the ultimate price after being hit by bullets released by the suspected bandits during the nefarious and vicious operation while many other victims are presently in devastating condition with varied gunshot wounds.To make matters worse,the attackers went as far as destroying several buildings by setting it on fire before escaping.

 

In the meantime,more findings by local news reporters unveiled that,when it was daybreak at about 8 o’clock in the morning of Monday,the lifeless corpses of those killed were seen scattered in different directions within the affected community,which caused fear to grip the defenseless villagers as no one knows who could be next in the non-stop manslaughter perpetrated by bandits.

 

Reacting to what occurred,residents of Mangu flocked to the streets in great numbers to express their disappointments and dissatisfaction over the recent bloodshed,which paused business activities in the region until soldiers of the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) rushed down to the scene to restore normalcy in the community by dispersing the protesters with gunshots fired into the air.
