I worked with Tinubu for 8years, He Is Not Corrupt – Thomas

By Bada Abraham

According to a news that was published by the Punch Newspaper online yesterday, it was reported that a former Senior Special Assistant on Policy Formulation and Programmes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when he was serving as the governor of Lagos State, between the years 1999 and 2007, Dr Dapo Thomas, during an interview with Punch correspondent has said that, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is not a corrupt man.

During the interview, Dapo Thomas was told that many people in the country and outside, have described the President as someone who appoints people primarily on merit, even without previous affiliation and that he (Dapo), once said that it was his uncle that introduced him to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he was asked to give more information about this.

While he was talking, he said that for the eight years he worked as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant, he discovered that he loves the poor people and he does not fake it. He said this gesture of the president explains why he always talks about the children of the poor. His style was to look for the best people in the country, who can do the work. People who will not consider personal interest first but those who will work around his vision for the poor.

He said, “I worked with Tinubu for 8 years, I did not see any wave of corruption or a scintilla in him. When you are in government, you will axiomatically lose the privilege of believability from people you’re leading. Even if it is for just a day or a week you joined the government, you have by extension been mired in the blanket aspersion of being a thief.”

He said nobody will consider the person’s financial status before he came into government and if we should continue to sustain this erroneous perception of everyone in government as a thief, then one day, there will be dearth of good rich men, that are ready to serve their fatherland.

Further talking, Dapo Thomas said that when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finishes his first term and he gets re-elected for the second term, the way people use Lagos State as a reference point, then Nigeria will become a reference point in Africa as well by the special grace of God.
