Anxiety as Police, EFCC personnel clash in Embattled APC Chairman’s House

The incident that occurred could be identified as a show of power as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC and the men of the Nigeria Police Force, clashed on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the residence of the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, during a search warrant execution.

According to information, the operatives of EFCC on Sunday night stormed Adamu’s residence to execute a search warrant.

The operatives arrived at Adamu’s residence on Ali Akilu Crescent, Ask Rock presidential Villa Abuja, at about 8:00 pm, and immediately met the men of Nigeria police officers attached to the politician.

The police officers told the EFCC personnel that no one could enter the house because it was already past 6:00 pm, and late for the search operation, but the EFCC operatives insisted they must enter and carry out their duty.

However, the standoff lasted for hours with no casualties reported, as the EFCC operatives reportedly bombarded Adamu’s house in four trucks.

Recall, Adamu had earlier faced corruption allegations, whose probe might still be active, even though the content of the EFCC search warrant was not revealed as of the time of this report.

However, the confrontation between the EFCC and Adamu’s police orderlies follows intensified pressure for Adamu to resign as the national chairman of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
