President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently engaged in a meeting with high-ranking officials from Shell Petroleum Development Company and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The delegation from Shell is being led by Ms. Zoe Yunovic, the Global Upstream Director at the company, and includes esteemed members such as Mr. Peter Costello, Mr. Osagie Okunbo, and Mr. Mar De Jong.
On the other hand, Mele Kyari, the General Manager Director of NNPC, is leading the representatives from the national oil corporation.
Although specific details regarding the agenda of the meeting have not been disclosed, it is highly likely that the discussions revolve around the recent adjustments made to fuel prices and the subsequent removal of petrol subsidies, which were implemented by President Tinubu.
Noteworthy individuals present at this significant gathering, which is taking place at the State House in Abuja, include Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Ms. Olu Verheijen, who serves as the president’s Special Adviser on Energy, Mr. Zacchaeus Adedeji, the Special Adviser on Revenue matters, and Mr. Mele Kyari, the GMD of NNPC.
The purpose of this meeting seems to be to address the concerns and implications surrounding the fuel price adjustments and the removal of petrol subsidies. It is a crucial gathering that brings together key stakeholders from both the private and public sectors to discuss the current situation and explore potential solutions.
