Microblogging site, Twitter has placed restrictions on number of post read per day by users’ in a bid to curb data scraping and system manipulation.

Twitter’s Executive Chairman, Elon Musk, announced this via his Twitter handle on Saturday, saying the restrictions are a temporary measure.

According to the new rule, verified accounts are limited to reading 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts can read 600 posts per day, and new unverified accounts to 300 posts per day.

The announcement was welcomed with backlashes, with many users condemning the restrictions, saying it was a plot to make more users subscribe to the Twitter blue badge.

Recall that Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, came under heavy criticism last year after launching a new subscription service for $7.99 a month.
