In 2018, I started my political journey with Senator Nicholas Tofowomo who was then a Senatorial Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State. I was a member of the three-man campaign team that he constituted as principal organs of his campaign on October 22, 2018, after winning the PDP’s primary election as the party senatorial candidate for Ondo South.
I served as the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign team with Hon. Banji Okunomo who was then the Director-General of the Campaign, while Hon. Solomon Bitire, a former Caretaker Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government was the Campaign Secretary.
I continued the political journey with him as his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity and head of his Media Team after he won the general election in March 2019 as Ondo South Senator-elect when the inconclusive senatorial election was concluded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It is exactly five years I have served him as a Media Aide, one year as his campaign spokesman and another four years speaking for him as a distinguished Senator of the 9th National Assembly whose era ended yesterday for the beginning of a new era of the 10th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that would officially be inaugurated tomorrow.
Whatever surely has a beginning must have an end. It is on this note, I deem it necessary to thank the Almighty God and the Senator for the grace and privilege to serve; not only him but also the good people of Ondo South. As a Christian, I must apologise publicly to all the people I have wronged in the course of my duty and political journey as I return fully to my profession as a Journalist, an Editor, and a Publisher.
To all the leaders and members of the PDP and the ruling APC that I have wronged in the course of my duty, please I am sorry. To all the good citizens and residents of Ondo South who are offended by me in the course of my duty, please forgive me. To my friends and associates who felt disappointed in me, please forgive me. To my household and extended family who felt bitter and unhappy for not meeting their expectations, please accept my apology. To the body of Christ, I am sorry for all the wrongdoing. Above all, I tender my unreserved apology for my conduct and behaviour during my duty. Every one should find a place in their hearts to forgive me.
For my two sides’ experience in the corridor of power with Senator Nicholas Tofowomo as a Political Aide, if Jesus tarries, the story would be told at the appropriate time. But permit me to conclude by saying that no experience is wasted in life. For whoever we meet in life is either a blessing to us or a lesson to us.
