Tofowomo, Olafeso, BBOL congratulate Deolu Ijose as BEDC’s new MD

The Senator representing Ondo South in the Senate, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, has congratulated Mr Deolu Ijose on his appointment by the Board of Directors of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) as Acting Managing Director/ CEO of the discos.

In a statement on Wednesday by his spokesman, pastor Akinrinlola Olumide, the Senator prayed for God’s grace and guidance for Ijose to succeed in reorganising and positioning the BEDC for sustained growth and development.

“I congratulate Mr Deolu Ijose on his new appointment. He is an illustrious son of the soil from Ilutitun in Ondo South. We are proud of him and we believe with his experience in IBDC, he will reorganise and reposition the BEDC for sustained growth and development. I pray God to guide and grant him the grace he needs to succeed in his new appointment,” the Senator said.

The Bring Back Our Light group (BBOL) and the former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West, Chief Eddy Olafeso, have similarly congratulated Mr Ijose.

Olafeso in a telephone interview with Starnews Nigeria on Wednesday said Mr Ijose is a great fit for the new position.

He said, “I congratulate you Mr Deolu on this amazing opportunity. I believe this is the reward for your hard work. I’m incredibly proud of you for this feat. I wish you the best on this exciting news of your new position.”

Also, Secretary Dare Omopariola, on behalf of the group, BBOL, that champion the effort to restore electricity to Ondo South hailed Mr Ijose’s appointment.

In a short release to journalists on Wednesday in Okitipupa, the group said, “we are so lucky that our son, Mr Deolu Ijose, has been appointed as the new MD/CEO of the BEDC. It’s an incredible opportunity and we can’t wait to hear about the improvement and performance of the BEDC in their coverage area now that a capable and experienced man is now in charge.

“We congratulate our son on this next step of his career and the opportunities that come with it”, the group added.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the former Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Dr Henry Ajagbawa, was relieved of his appointment. His sack by the Board of Directors of the discos took effect on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

The Board consequently appointed Mr Deolu Ijose as Acting Managing Director/ CEO of the distribution company with immediate effect.
