Ahead of the new year, a London-based Blogger, Maureen Badejo, has collaborated with GIO TV foundation Partners to give back to the needy and less privileged in Ode Aye Community of Okitipupa Local Government Area in Ondo State.
Speaking with Starnews Nigeria in a telephone interview, Maureen, the CEO of GIO TV, said the target is to support the widows, the less privileged, and the elderly people in the community with food items ranging from rice, beans, gari, salt, Maggi, indomie and other food items.
According to her, at the close of the programme which will commence on December 30, 2022, at the residence of High Chief Josiah Akinrinlola Nejo, the late Petu of Aye Kingdom, 500 youths will be fed with food and drinks in a get-together party that would be entertained by a DJ.
Asked why she is into charity, she said; “I am not a politician and I can’t be. I am just doing this to assist my people at home. I need to support the weak, the widows, the elderly men and women, and the less privileged in my town. We did it last year by giving out food items to over 400 people in Ode Aye, my home town. This year is the second edition. We have procured many bags of rice, beans and garri with plenty of cartons of indomie, salt and Maggi to support them.
“I am similarly planning to sponsor the education of two persons in my town who are ready to study Nursing and Medicine abroad. This will be announced during the programme with the modalities. So I am using this medium to invite my people to attend this programme at the same venue we used last year” she added.
