Atiku’s Legal Team Storms INEC Office To Protest Commission’s Refusal To Produce Electoral Docs

The Legal Team of the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last concluded general election in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, Stormed the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its failure to produce some certified true copy of electoral documents used in the last election for the PDP and its Candidate despite court order.

Silas Joseph, while addressing Journalists on behalf of the legal team, said the electoral umpire is not complying with court order to release needed electoral materials because the commission is trying to doctore the required documents.

He said: “we have inspected all of these documents and paid for them. After paying, we were supposed to come back to collect these documents but however, we have not been given.

“About nine days ago, we came here and met with the commissioner in charge of legal, she told us that  their lawyer said they should not give us the documents we inspected and paid for already.

“So we wrote them a letter that they should respond to us in writing with reasons why they are not releasing these documents to us or immediately release those documents to us.

“Today we came here to know if they are releasing these documents or they are giving us a written response as to why they are not complying with the court order”, Joseph said.
