- As community thanks ODSG on elevation of ‘Larogbo’ to first class Monarch
Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on the kingmakers and community leaders in Akotogbo to see to the emergence of a new King for the community.
Starnews Nigeria reports that the acting Governor threw this challenge on Monday when the Regent of Akotogbo, High Chief Emoruwa Iwalewa led other community leaders and prominent sons of the community on a ‘Thank You’ visit to the Governor’s Office in Akure over the elevation of “Larogbo of Akotogbo” to first class.
Akotogbo is one of the ancient communities in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State with over 15 years of interregnum in the Obaship stool.
“As a government, we will provide enabling environment and give guidance on the process of selection, but the actual selection will be done by the kingmakers”, Aiyedatiwa said.
He assured the community that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration is committed to the security of lives and property in Ondo State, promising that the Akotogbo community will not be left out in the ongoing security arrangements by the state government.
He added that Ondo State is committed to the synergy among security agencies in the State which has given room to community partnership as a strategy towards addressing crimes in the State.
On their part, the spokesperson of the delegation, Dr Olagbayi Akinsulire said, “as a community, we are very happy and thankful for the elevation of our Obaship stool, ‘Larogbo of Akotogbo’ to grade A status”.
“We are very hopeful that filling the vacancy stool will be crisis-free, because where there’s peace, there will be development”, he added.
At the meeting, we have Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ladi Okunniga, Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, and Hon Afolabi Iwalewa, former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly.
