CHAN 2023: Nigeria, Ghana battle for place in Algeria

 

 

 

Perennial rivals, Nigeria and Ghana will battle for a place in the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

 

 

 

The Black Galaxies of Ghana defeated the Squirrels of Benin Republic 4-0 aggregate to book a date with the home-based Super Eagles.

 

 

 

Ghana won the first leg 3-0 in Cape Coast and beat the Squirrels 1-0 in the reverse fixture at the Stade de l’Amittie, Cotonou.

 

 

 

The winner of the contest between Nigeria and Ghana will qualify for CHAN 2023 to be hosted by Algeria.

 

 

 

Ghana will host the first leg on the weekend of August 26-28 in Cape Coast.

 

 

 

The return leg will be played in Nigeria between September 1-3, 2022.

 

 

 

Nigeria failed to qualify for the last edition of the competition hosted by Cameroon.

 

 

 

Ghana’s last appearance was in 2014 in South Africa where they lost on penalties to Libya in the final.
